Wood-fired sauna glowing beside a dark Finnish lake at dusk

Lakeside sauna · Southern Finland

Steam slowly.
Return lighter.

A wood-fired sauna at the edge of a dark, quiet lake. Come for the heat, the birch, and the pause between one breath and the next.

01 / Savu, by the water

The place

Heat, water, and almost nothing else.

Savu is a private wood-fired sauna on a sheltered bay in southern Finland. No spa circuit. No playlist. Just a stove you feed yourself, a dark lake a few steps away, and the long quiet that follows steam.

Sessions are booked for your own group. The fire is lit before you arrive. The rest is yours — as slow as you like.

What a session feels like →
Blackened timber sauna with stacked birch firewood by the lake
Private cabin · wood-fired only
Steam rising inside a dim birch-lined sauna

Wood heat

A traditional kiuas stove. Soft, deep heat that builds — not a rush of electric air.

Weathered wooden dock entering still dark lake water

Dark water

A short path to the lake. Cold plunge, slow return, steam again. As many rounds as you want.

Fresh birch leaves and pale bark for sauna whisks

Birch air

Fresh vihta in season, quiet forest around the cabin, smoke that smells like evening.

“You come for the heat. You stay for the silence after.”

— a regular guest, late autumn

Rhythm

Two hours. Your own fire.

Arrive, undress, throw the first löyly. Walk the short dock when the heat is enough. Sit. Listen. Go back in. We leave towels, water, and birch — you leave the rest of the day behind.
