The track in.

Savu sits off a quiet road near the small town of Somero in southern Finland — not far from the larger towns, far enough that the lake keeps its silence.

Narrow forest track through birch and pine toward the lake

Nearest town

Somero, then the trees

The nearest services — fuel, a grocery, a bakery — are in Somero, about fifteen minutes by car from the sauna gate. From the town centre you follow signs toward the lake district, then a smaller paved road that thins into gravel.

We send an exact map pin and gate code with every confirmed booking. The public road ends at a small turning circle; from there the private track is only for guests.

On arrival

Gate, parking, path

01

The gate

A simple wooden barrier on the gravel spur. Code in your confirmation email. Close it behind you — the forest road is shared with quiet neighbours.

02

Parking

Three spaces at the pull-in under the birches. Do not block the turning circle. In deep snow we clear a single lane; arrive a few minutes early.

03

The track on foot

From the car, a packed earth and boardwalk path winds downhill about 350 metres. Soft ground after rain; ice in winter — we sand the steep bend.

04

The porch

You will see the cabin light through the trees before you hear the lake. Boots off at the bench. The stove will already be warm.

The path

Four quiet minutes

The walk is part of the arrival. Birch and pine close overhead; the ground smells of needles and, in spring, wet moss. You cannot see the road from the water — and you cannot hear it either, on most days.

If mobility is a concern, write to us when you book. The path has a gentle grade and one steeper pitch with a handrail; we can advise honestly whether it will suit you.

Orientation

Southern Finland, lake country

Savu is inland from the south coast, in the belt of small lakes west of the Häme road network. Dense enough forest to feel remote; close enough to Somero that you are never far from a warm loaf or a full tank.

Without a car

Possible, with planning

Coach connections reach Somero from Helsinki and Turku. From the bus station a local taxi covers the last stretch in about fifteen minutes — book the return in advance, especially late evening. We can share a trusted local number in your confirmation.

In winter

Dark early, still open

The track is ploughed after significant snow. Studded or good winter tyres are wise. Daylight is short; the porch lantern and path markers stay lit through your session window. The lake ice is only for entry when we explicitly say it is safe.

Ready

When you know your evening.

Request a session and we will send the pin with your confirmation — not before, so the track stays quiet.
