Sunlit interior of the Kiln & Clay pottery studio with shelves of handmade pots and wooden work tables

Family-run · SE Portland

Clay in your hands.
Warmth in every piece.

Kiln & Clay is our little corner of Portland where earth becomes something you can hold — mugs for slow mornings, bowls for shared tables, and classes that leave clay under your nails.

Welcome in

A working studio you can walk into

We’re the Harpers — three generations of hands on the wheel. Come for a mug, stay for a throwing demo, or book a seat at the table. Everything on our shelves was made right here on Division Street.

The shop

One-of-a-kind pieces, made for daily use

Every mug, bowl, and vase on our floor is thrown or handbuilt in-house, glazed in small batches, and fired in our gas kiln. No two pieces are twins — and that’s the point.

  • Food-safe glazes, dishwasher friendly
  • Locally sourced clays & materials
  • Gift wrapping always free

“We don’t make precious objects for pedestals. We make the mug you reach for every morning — and we teach you how to make your own.”

— Mara Harper, studio founder
